The Rangeley Lakes Trails Center, operated by the Rangeley Lakes XC Ski Club is located at the base of alpine ski area Saddleback Mountain in the heart of Maine's scenic western mountain and lake region. There are 55 km of mapped trails for XC skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking. This area has an annual snowfall approaching 200 inches for superb snow conditions plus fantastic terrain make Nordic skiing there a wonderful experience for novice to expert. There is also a growing selection of great dedicated single-track trails for snowshoeing making it a Snowshoe Destination of the East!

The rustic yurt lodge has a snack bar with hot and cold beverages, a variety of snacks, and hot soup and XC ski and snowshoe equipment rentals. There are picnic tables placed along the scenic trails for a break to take in the surroundings. Local lodgings range from fine hotels or bed and breakfast accommodations to motels and private luxury winter homes, condos, or quaint cabins. The Trail Pass for XC Skiing: Adult (19-64) $22 (half day 12:30 PM $16); Junior (7-18), College, Military, Senior $15; Kids (0-6) Free; ½ Day (adults only) $14.

Trail Pass for Snowshoeing - Adult (19-64) $12; Junior (7-18), College, Military, Senior $8; Kids (0-6) Free.

Very attractive season pass rates including special combo deals with Saddleback Ski Area season pass. Maine Days are $15 for adult pass on the 1st Sunday of each month unless holiday. Ladies Day on Mondays (non-vacation days) for half price pass and free cup of soup and Men’s Day on Tuesdays. Buy One, Get One Free Day Pass on Wednesdays (non-vacation).

Rental XC Ski Equipment: Adult (19-64) $20; Under 19, College, Military, Seniors $15; Rental Snowshoes: Adult (19-64) $15; Fat Bike rentals $35 half day (9 AM-12:30 or 12:30-4 PM); $55 full day (9 AM - 4 PM).

Lessons or Guided Tours are available by reservation, so please call the center to arrange 24 hours ahead.

The Gnome Homes that have appeared on the trails have "inhabitants" that have been lovingly hand-crafted by art students at the Rangeley Lakes Regional School under the guidance of art instructor, Sonja Johnson.
