Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
in Massachusetts
Cranwell Resort in Lenox MA (800-272-6935, 413-637-1364, www.cranwellresort.com) is in the heart of the Berkshires on Route 20. There are 10 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing. Lessons and rental equipment available for xc skiing and snowshoeing. Luxury accommodations with 107 guest rooms and suites on 380 acres. The largest resort spa in New England (35,000 square feet) includes a state of the art fitness center and a heated swimming pool. Northfield Mountain XC (800-/859-2960, www.nu.com/Northfield/) in Northfield, MA offers a beautiful facility and a well designed network of trails. There are 40 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing and separate trails for snowshoers. Lessons, xc ski and snowshoe equipment rentals are available. CCSAA member

is in Hawley, MA and has 25 km of groomed trails. Lessons, xc ski and
snowshoe rental equipment are available. Lodge with fireplace, bunkrooms,
rec room, sauna. Home cooking and vegetarians accommodated. Guided trips

Notchview Reservation (413-684-0148, www.thetrustees.org) is on Route 9 in Windsor, MA and has 17 km of groomed xc skiing. There are 3,000 acres in the reservation and 2 trailside shelters. The Arthur Budd Visitor Lodge has a picnic room and hot coco. The 2,000 foot elevation supports more snow coverage compared to other areas in the region. CCSAA member
Hilltop Orchards (800-833-6274, www.hilltoporchards.com) is in Richmond, MA with 200 acres of groomed xc skiing. This apple orchard, which is the home of the Furnace Brook Winery, is open on Friday-Sunday from 11 AM - 5 PM. The Barrel Room is open for lounging and some tastings. There is guided backcountry skiing by reservation. No rentals.
Maple Corner Farm (413-357-6697, www.xcskimass.com) in Granville, MA is a 500 acre family farm with 20 km of scenic trails groomed for classic and skate skiing. The farm is at 1,400 foot elevation and there is a snack bar with soup and sandwiches available. There are lessons and rentals for xc skiing and snowshoeing available.
Great Brook Ski Touring Center (978-369-7486, www.greatbrookski.com) is in Carlisle, MA with 15 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing on a 1,000 acres of forested area. It is 25 miles from Boston. Great Brook has 1.5 km of lighted trails. There are lessons, and xc ski and snowshoe equipment rentals available. CCSAA member
Canterbury Farm Ski Touring Center (413-623-0100, www.canterbury-farms.com) is located in Becket, MA and has nearly 20 km of newly widened and groomed ski trails.This Berkshire farm provides skiing along brooks, by stone walls and across wide open fields. XC ski equipment rentals, lessons and food are available.
Weston Ski Track (781-891-6575, www.ski-paddle.com) is in Weston, MA, which is only 20 minutes from downtown Boston. There are 15 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing and 3 km of lighted trails. There are xc ski equipment rentals and lessons. Snowmaking provides snow when there is not enough natural snow. CCSAA member
