Ski Maine Association is the non-profit trade association representing the Maine Alpine and Nordic Ski Industry. The Association represents Alpine Ski Areas and Nordic Ski Centers from South Berwick to Fort Kent. The mission of the Association is to promote the industry by focusing on Governmental Affairs, Education and Training, and Public Affairs. The association works with the Maine Tourism Association on winter messaging and works with members to engage local media partners. SkiMaine Nordic ski area members include:

Carter’s XC

Carter's XC Ski Center in Bethel, Maine has beautiful views of the Mahoosuc and Presidential mountain ranges, and the land has been in the Carter family for generations. Fat bike trails and rental gear are available and the retail shop is stocked with XC skis for recreational, racing and backcountry skiing and snowshoes. The Rangeley Lakes Trails Center, operated by the Rangeley Lakes XC Ski Club is located at the base of alpine ski area Saddleback Mountain in the heart of Maine's scenic western mountain and lake region. There are 55 km of mapped trails for XC skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking. This area has an annual snowfall approaching 200 inches for superb snow conditions plus fantastic terrain make Nordic skiing there a wonderful experience for novice to expert. Inland Woods & Trails

There are 15 miles of XC ski trails and 9 miles of snowshoe/fat bike trails. The rental equipment is at Bethel Resort including XC ski gear, snowshoes and fat bikes. Lessons are available for groups or privates.

 

Black Mountain of Maine

This nonprofit organization is home to the Chisholm Ski Club. There are 17 km of trails and the ski area is a participating Indy Pass ski area.

The Birches

There are 38 miles of groomed XC ski trails with rentals for XC ski and snowshoe gear plus snowmobiles, too. Lodging available in rustic cabins, rooms/suites, and vacation homes. Moose safari in the summer month. 

Camden Snow Bowl

Nestled among picturesque harbors, charming inns and restaurants, the Snow Bowl is the only ski area on the East Coast with ocean views, Just 90 minutes north of Portland there are XC ski and snowshoe on 25 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails. 

4 Seasons Trail

A modern lodge facility owned and operated by a Four Seasons Trail Association. There are 16 km of XC ski trails and 12 more of snowshoe trails all of which are free to use. 

Harris Farm

A 600-acre dairy farm with 40 km of XC ski trails on rolling hills with sheltered forests and open fields. Trails are Groomed daily. There are rentals for snowshoeing and XC skiing and lessons are available sporadically. The lodge has the rental equipment, a wood stove, and a warm sun room and the Harris’ say, “feel free to bring a snack or your lunch to enjoy in the lodge.”

Lost Valley

This area is run by the Auburn Nordic Ski Association. There are 10 km of groomed XC trails and 5 km of snowshoe trails. There is rental gear for XC skiing and snowshoeing available.

Quarry Road

Owned and operated by City of Waterville Parks & Recreation with 13.3 km of groomed XC ski trails and 8 km of snowshoe trails. There is a snowmaking system used to guarantee snow, too. 

Spruce Mountain

There are 5 km of XC ski trails and scenic views for a 2.6 mile out and back. A section of the Georges Highland Path leads to the summit of Spruce Mountain where there are views of Ragged Mountain and Penobscot Bay. Even before reaching the top there are several scenic overlooks.

Sugarloaf Outdoors Center

Maine’s largest XC skiing center with 50 km of groomed XC ski trails. Rental and retail shop and the Alpine Exchange Program with free trail access and rentals with proof of lift ticket purchase on the same day only. Guided safari tour on Saturday night 5-7 PM.

Titcomb Mountain

There are 16 km of XC ski trails at Titcomb Mountain. A trail access donation can be left in the grey dropbox at the right corner of the lodge.
